How to further compress Sweet Home 3D file to upload

Hi,

I just noticed that with the latest import from .jpeg files and using them to model the master bath tiles, I have reached the 20MB limit, even after compression. I can no longer upload online due to reaching the max file size. What are the options to reduce the file size to fit under the 20MB limits? The modeling is for a newly built home, so there are many elements/imports I would like to do.

I have the Mac desktop version and using the online version to share my designs w/ family members.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Stacy

Re: How to further compress Sweet Home 3D file to upload

There are several things you can do to make your project smaller.
You can right-click in the bottom-left list. From the context menu you can add columns to the list. Add the column 'Model size'. This will show you what the biggest models are.

1. Optimize the models you use. In other words: make them smaller (if possible) or
2. use a replacement model that is similar but smaller
3. Where possible use the same model multiple times instead of using different models.
4. Reduce the size of textures you use
5. Check if there are objects that are hidden from view. You can remove those without changing the look of the house.
6. If you have filled a cupboard with decorative items you can take a screenshot and for the online version replace the items with the screenshot as a texture on a box. Curvy items are often large in size. (Make all sides of the box invisible except the front with the image, export/import)

More tips are available on the Tips&Tricks page, especially this one.
