Moving 3D and 2D POV focus

So I've been trying to get into this software, but I've encountered a barrier.
When working on larger projects, I find it hard to really view the house. The 3D POV is either locked to an object, or its snapped to the centre; but when you bring in multiple objects, or when you are adding walls, etc, it really hampers your ability to do touch ups when the 3D pov is jumping around so much. So how do I move the perspective of the 3D POV from an aerial view?

Further, how do I move the 2D view? When doing large walls, once you get to the end of the page, I haven't been able to figure out how to make a wall go past the page, without doing a very painful process or scrolling just little by little. But most software would have it so that the wall keep extending when I get near the end page. Scrolling momentum so to speak.
And I guess just further, how do I move the curser to see more whitespace on the 2D plan? Like sometimes I want to see the 15ft of empty space before I bring my walls there.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Check the preferences where you can unset the "Aerial view centered on selection" but in general you will want to keep that checked. You can zoom out the 3D view to a wider view when there is nothing selected in the 2D view.
Install the Plugin Manager which you can use to easily install, update, and remove other plugins. Use it to install the Pan3DView plugin which adds features for the 3D view. Another plugin that you should always install is the Advanced Edit plugin.

The walls should scroll but it's easier to press enter when you started the wall and enter the wall length. Or just increase the 2D field first:

That bothers me too but I understand the reason behind it. There is a trick I always use: drag a large object into the 2D window and drag it to a side which enlarges the window. Ctrl-Z to return the object to it's start point and repeat the same for the other sides. Delete the object and you now have a larger design field.
