Re: How do you work the lights again?
Pencilart,
Thanks for sharing the file. As far as I can see, the problem is caused by a combination of two problems: - using an old version of (either) the render plug-in OR an old version of the basic light bulbs - using the ceiling lights in combination with the light bulbs.
1 - The ceiling light is causing the irregular light underneath the glass cupboards, and is also responsible for the light that seems to come from underneath the kitchen island. So, switch off the ceiling light. 2 - Make sure you have BOTH version 1.6.1 from the advanced render plug-in and the basic light bulbs. Replace all light bulbs with the new light bulbs, and make sure that you lower the ceiling light, because now its elevation is higher than the ceiling. See the links below.
3 - To make sure sunlight isn't interfering you can (temporarily) choose a very dark texture for the sky, turn the orientation know so that your model isn't facing north, etc. This is optional, #1 and #2 are the solution for the problem.
As an extra service, I attach a corrected file :-)

Re: How do you work the lights again?
Thanks so much Hans!
Now, how do I delete the old basic light bulbs so that I don't forget and use them again? Since they're in my catalog, I can't find anything that will allow me to delete them.
Now a new problem: When I went to import the AdvancedRenderingMini-1.6.1.sh3p, I got this error message: "The format of the chosen model isn't supported. Please choose an other model" -Why would it say that? :(

Re: How do you work the lights again?
Pencilart,
sh3P files are Plug-ins sh3F files are Furniture files sh3T files are Texture files
If I remember correctly you are using some Linux flavour. For Ubuntu, you just put the - SH3P files in ./eteks/sweethome3d/plugins directory - SH3F files in ./eteks/sweethome3d/furniture directory So I guess for you it will be the same?
The files are loaded when you (re-)start SH3D. If you delete the files they can't be loaded, so the lights will disappear.
Maybe it's a good idea to read again what the manual says about installing plug-ins?

Re: How do you work the lights again?
The only things that are in the ./eteks/sweethome3d/plugins directory are the advancedrendering.sh3p and the advancedrenderingmini.sh3p, nothing else. The only thing that is in the ./eteks/sweethome3d/furniture directory is the fancy door that I recently added to the catalog.
Where do you get the incandescent lights? I can't find them anywhere. They seem to be the only thing that works.
P.S. I finally found the way to delete the basic lights.

Re: How do you work the lights again?
"BasicPlusExtraLights" and "basicLights" lights were downloaded from this forum from one of the posts about them. I don't remember which post it was. I downloaded the ones just now that you gave the link to and imported them but they still have no icon. (I had deleted the original 2 that were in my catalog).
I don't know how those extra walls happened. I just had selected my walls and then moved them, that was all. I also came across a curiosity when moving the wall that contains the front door: at least 4 more doors and windows were inserted and I discovered that when I saw that I could no longer see through the windows. I had to keep clicking and deleting the extras until I got to the bottom of the heap.
See if this happens to you: make some walls, put windows and doors in them, move the walls to resize/reposition them. That's all I had done. I don't remember if I had created the 'room' before I moved the walls or not so try it with both. Anyway, that's what happened to me.

Re: How do you work the lights again?
Thanks! That worked. :D
I just found out what happened with the extra windows and door: when I wanted to select more than one item, I held down Ctrl and clicked the item. This caused a copy to be made and pasted just as if I had done Ctrl + c then Ctrl + v. Is this normal behavior? I don't remember reading about that. Hmmm... gotta go read that manual again. :)
