Library of people models
Hello all,
Today I found this library of people models. The nice part is that there are people from all parts of the world, so you can populate your designs with people from home. The drawback is that this collection is in the Autocad DWG format. If you know of a way to convert them (my Blender couldn't handle them), please let us know, so we can all enjoy them.

Re: Library of people models
Not sure about the new version of Blender, but the last version ( I forgot the version number) had a plugin you had to download in order to open and convert DWG. But that might have been taken out because Autodesk is cracking down on software freely offering conversions of DWG, and other CAD formats.
Unfortunately, DWG is Autodesk, and Autodesk is not very friendly about sharing the DWG format with free or opensource software from what I've learned.
EDIT:
I just had a look, and yes, the page where I downloaded the free version of a 3d file converter is gone, now replaced with ones you have to pay for...

If you know of a free program to convert DWG to DXF... Under python scripts at the blender resource page, there is a DXF import/export script. It allows you to import and export the DXF files.

Free DWG converters might come one day, but at this moment, it seems from Wikipedia that legal issues are not settled yet.

yeah, those legal battles caused a lot of aggravation/anger/disappointment to the people who used CAD and converted their files from one type of software to another for clients or friends... It sucked royally.
