import obj with texture

Hi

I downloaded some 3d object and changed the texture.
When I insert the object I lose the texture settings. Look at the picture.

How I fix it?
Can I edit the texture setting - > mtl file?

Re: import obj with texture

Mekkelek,

When you transfer a model from one program to another program, some information may be lost. The problem lies in a different interpretation of the "language" used to describe the model. This happens especially when exchanging objects in the 3DS and/or OBJ format. You can try to use Blender as an intermediate program: import your model into Blender, correct textures if necessary, then export it again as 3DS or OBJ. Sometimes this may help, sometimes not.

Also, try to "play" with the export function. I'm not familiar with the Autodesk program, but I know that Blender has a lot of options when exporting a model. You have to find the right combination, or things don't work the way you want it.

Re: import obj with texture

I "play" with blender. May be little bit better but not yet perfect.
Thanks for helping.

Re: import obj with texture

mekkelek,
You can edit the MTL file if you want to, but you should know that Sweet Home 3D doesn't support all the options available in the MTL format.
For example, map_Kd lines that specify information about texture, supports only a file name for the image of the texture and no scale or shift options.
If the exported MTL file shows such options, you should modify the UV coordinates of your model in Maya in such a way the texture image don't need any scale.
