GLX problems with Mesa Rendering

Hi,

I have downloaded Linux tarball with SweetHome3D 3.2. My system's got:

- xorg server 1.9.4,
- mesa 7.10.1,
- very old ATI RagePro card working at the 1280x1024 resolution,
- Samsung SyncMaster 971P TFT display,
All that running under Gentoo.

eselect lists two interfaces for opengl, I'm using xorg-x11 one:
$ eselect opengl list
Available OpenGL implementations:
[1] xfree
[2] xorg-x11 *

I know that my card is severly outdated, but I've got Mesa for software rendering. What is going wrong here ?

Thanks in advance,

Wojciech

Re: GLX problems with Mesa Rendering

Could you try whether the version based on Java 3D 1.3 works or not on your computer, and read also the FAQ if you didn't yet?

Re: GLX problems with Mesa Rendering

1. it looks like 16-bit color depth was the problem,
2. On ubuntu I can run SH3D in 24-bit depth,
3. On gentoo it starts, but then java crashes when I attempt to create the photo (I'm investigating right now).

Wojtek
