confused Place chair under table in 2D view

Usually, when not used, I like to move a chair partly under a table. So far I haven't been able to accomplish this with SH3D. Even when I make the hight of the chair smaler than the hight of the table, the chair is still shown on top of the table. How can I get this to show the way it is supposed to?

Re: Place chair under table in 2D view

Objects are "stacked" in the order of insertion. So, first insert your chairs, then insert your table. Now the table will show on top of the chairs.

Re: Place chair under table in 2D view

That sounds like a limitation. Isn't there any other option, or would that be a feature request?

Re: Place chair under table in 2D view

I personally prefer to place a table then the chairs too.
My workaround is to cut/paste the table once I placed the chairs, to change the order of insertion.

Re: Place chair under table in 2D view

Well, that's a good and helpful trick, but it is cumbersome once I have placed items on top of the table. It would be more helpful to be able move an item to the top or towards the bottom.

Thanks anyway.

Re: Place chair under table in 2D view

To be more precise, objects in the 2D view are drawn in the order of their elevation, then at a same elevation, in the order they were added. So if you place items on the table and then cut/paste the table, items placed on the table will be visible in the 2D view.

Re: Place chair under table in 2D view

I know this is an old thread, but...

I found that if I select the items I want to reorder - bottom one first - and group them it sets them in that order. I can then ungroup and they stay in that order.

It's a workaround, but requires little effort
