Furniture Import Wizard Error while importing .dae files
Hello. Im having issues trying to import models made on sketchup and exported in .dae format. Sometimes they import just fine and other times the first preview window remains blank as if nothing happened. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

It's difficult to help you without any DAE file that failed. Could you send me one or two please?

Re: Furniture Import Wizard Error while importing .dae files
Thanks to the file you sent me, I found a bug in DAE loader and fixed it. Correction will be available in the next release. Meanwhile, selecting the 3rd option Triangulate All Faces in the DAE export options of SketchUp seems to avoid this issue.

Re: Furniture Import Wizard Error while importing .dae files
Hello, i seem to be having a similar issue.
I also am trying to import a sketchup converted dae (tried with 'triangulate all faces', did not help). it almost looks as if the 3D model preview thumbnail is blank but in fact it is just a very tiny version of the 3D model.
I have tried increasing the size in furniture editor but it seems to have no effect (that is, the thumbnail looks the same no matter what i do).
Upon closer inspection, the thumbnail seems to have a speck in the corner in the 3D model, but in sketchup there is no such speck or object.
can anyone point me to a sketchup tutorial on how to fix this (assuming it's a sketchup issue...) or other relevant site to read more about it.
Screen shot of the model in furniture editor (after .dae export). note i have pointed out the spec of 'something' with a big red arrow. you can see the bike shape clearly in the opposite corner of the thumb view. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9396423/Tiny3D.PNG

Re: Furniture Import Wizard Error while importing .dae files
Agnieszka,
In Sketchup: 1 - Draw a tight selection box around the bike 2 - Use CTRL-C to copy it 3 - Open a new instance of Sketchup and copy the bike into it using CTRL-V 4 - Export the bike as a 3D model.
In SH3D: 1 - Import the bike in the usual manner. You will have to wait a long time. It should display correctly now.
NOTE: In general it's a bad idea to use 5 MB models in SH3D because they slow the program down considerably. If you need a bike as "decoration", there are many much smaller models to choose from.
