Since I was pointed to this and didn't find it via search let me add the error message is cannot save home to....
I found another discussion where it was mentioned that sh3d files are zips. I'm running win7 64bit and I corrected my corrupt sh3d file like this:
1. Rename copy of file from .sh3d to .zip 2. Extract to new folder with zip program (pea zip). The zip program found an error and just unzipped the ok parts. 3. Rezip all in the new folder. 4. Rename .zip to .sh3d
sh3d file now works but has one delete item of furniture which I put back in in a few seconds. This seems an easier method than using java commands.

Re: Repair sh3d file
Not sure your tip would still work from Sweet Home 3D 3.6, since from this version it refuses to open a SH3D file where some furniture or textures are missing.
