Builders Icons

Hi Im really new to this, Im just trying to find out if instead of room areas we can put the room dimensions.. Im finding that the area calculations arent always correct! =-/
Also, I have 'builders icons' as bitmap files. Is there anyway I can incorporate these into the plans???
And my final question.. Is there a way to show the roof and eaves?

Thanks! Bianca..

Please dont be too harsh.. Im struggling with finding my way around the program.. but is in desperate need of it.

Re: Builders Icons

Hi,

You will find there is a dimension tool next to the room-button (or PLAN -> Create Dimentions or CTRL+SHIFT+L). Then you can un-check the "Display Area" in the room properties if you only want dimensions displayed.

Common reasons the areas appear to be wrong, are:
1) Inclusion or exclusion of walls in room area (look at wall thickness),
2) Auto-calculation (inclusion) of door openings (will add a few extra sq cm).
If you look carefully at the room and you will probably find that the calculation is correct (albeit maybe not exactly how you wanted it, in which case you can redraw your room).

Builders icons is an unknown concept to me, so I dare not answer that one.

Roofs and eaves can be a bit of a challenge. In the FAQ (see sidebar) there are references to roof issues, including a tutorial. Methinks the advanced creation in the tutorial can be a bit daunting (but well explained), so you could consider using another piece of software to draw your roof and add it to the model.

Good luck.

ok
