The output texture does not look like the imported picture

I try to import image to use it as floor tile.
the image size is 450x450 pixels.
i go through the import wizard and when he ask me about the dimension i set it to be 40 cm x 40 cm. but the preview of the image does not look like the input picture. i try with the values for width and height when i put it to be 250 cm x 250 cm the preview look like the input picture. so where is the problem. and how i can get the same texture of the input image while setting the width and height to be 40 cm x 40 cm

During importation of the texture, you see a small preview. The real size of the texture is used when you apply it to a wall or a model.

Re: The output texture does not look like the imported picture

If in Preferences you have set the Unit to centimeter, than your texture import is measured in centimeter (as indicated).
If in Preferences you have set the Unit to meter, than your texture import is measured in meter (as indicated).

You can only set width or height, not both. The second value will be calculated by SH3D based on the proportions of the image.

Do all textures you try to import have the same problem? Or does the problem occur only with this specific texture?

Re: The output texture does not look like the imported picture

Hans, I'm having a similar problem - I'm trying to tile a countertop, but no matter what size I enter for the texture (2 inches, 4 inches, 6 inches), the countertop gets covered with one big tile. Any suggestions?

To what kind of object are you trying to attach the texture?
If you use a "room" tiling shouldn't cause problems...

Re: The output texture does not look like the imported picture

I'm not sure about the other people, but I'm trying to apply the texture to a piece of furniture. To be more precise, the countertop of some cabinets. The default cabinet texture is a marble looking texture. I have white tiles on my countertop. I copied and modified one of the floor tiles that comes with sh3d to be the right color, leaving the gray border around the edge. When trying to apply that texture to the countertop, no matter what I put in for the size, it appears sh3d is just stretching the texture across the entire countertop rather than tiling it. I end up with 2 gray lines on the front and back of the counter which probably correspond to the gray lines on the edges of the texture. Since the cabinet is rectangular and the texture is square, I only see the gray lines on 2 sides. So is there a way to texture a piece of furniture and get a tiling effect?

I think you may have to specify which model and which texture you try to use. Could have to do with the geometry/scaling of the model.

If you do not want to try another model, you could also try to make a separate countertop from a box with the tiles you want.

Re: The output texture does not look like the imported picture

The countertop you use must define some "textures coordinates", in which case the size of the texture has no influence. I could give more control to the user about these special data that defines how to wrap a texture image on some shapes, but feel it's way out of the scope of the program.
