HELP for designing my mansard

Hi all,
I have an issue in designing a wooden crossbean, since I can't find the object. In fact it is sloping of 45°, and the elevation changes from 1 meter to 2.
Thanks in advance for your collaboration

Re: HELP for designing my mansard

Sounds as if you can get away with drawing your crossbeam in SH3D, e.g:
- draw a wall 45 deg angle
- set wall height = beam width
- set wall thickness = beam height
- set wall length = beam length
- select and export selection to .obj format
- import .obj file (import furniture, or drag/drop)
- rotate beam in import menu (green arrows)

ok

smile Re: HELP for designing my mansard

Hello everybody, smile
after a couple of days trying to find out a proper way for designing of my mansard (It's not my job but it's just for fun and curiosity that I'm doing it) I decided to ask if there is any of you willing to help me. crying
The problem I'm facing is that my mansard peculiar conformation and it has a sloping roof. It goes from 3.10 meters to 60 cm where the pillars are connected by concrete cross beams (60x30cm). I've always thought that it has too many pillars and connections between them but anyway...
I've not been able, even with all the marvellous instructions (pdf and discussions in this forum) to find out a proper way at least to draw cross beams and some other detail.
Is there any opportunity to attach what I've already done (image or any other kind of file) for helping any of you willing to help me to understand better the problem?
Thank you in advance
Giuseppe

Re: HELP for designing my mansard

Please, read this thread on how to share images and/or files.
If you want help, I suggest you include a sh3d-file or plan that shows the layout of the space, and photos to show how the sloping walls, ceiling/roof and beams should look.

Re: HELP for designing my mansard

Hello Hans!

Thank you for answering me so fast suggesting me how to share some picture. If I'll be able to do it, probably is gonna be much easier to help me.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/fzss239awto3tzs (this is a sh3d-file)

http://www.mediafire.com/view/27volfu16mtc3vc (here a pdf file in wich I tried to explain a bit more)

I hope this helps. I'm a beginner SH3d user and probably for a good user my problem would take not so much to be solved. I wish I was able myself and I hope to lern after this, maybe with a little more time and practice, how to do it.

Thanks in advance

Giuseppe

Re: HELP for designing my mansard

Looked at your construction and it seems to me as if the crossbeams could be drawn with the method described above: use a blank file to draw the beam as a low wall 'laterally' so you get the correct angle, and then export-import-rotate selection. (Btw, you can control the angle of the end of the beam by adding connected walls that you do not export). But maybe I misunderstand?

As for the roof itself, maybe the triangle roof shapes in SF 3D models 330 can be of help?

ok

Re: HELP for designing my mansard

This is what I do for You:
1. I redraw Your file to be how I think You want to be.
2. I use 2 invisible objects to make hols in walls.

And here is the modified file.
Hope is useful.
