Re: To create an opening in a work-top ?

2D sinks are so nice when Normal mapping is possible.Because it is smooth and fast for rendering. But Normal maps are not works in SH3D now. sad
I wish, divide kitchen worktop in a way that each wall consist each part that the user can adjust according the room size. And let the user can add sink slab with his choice.
Feels if I don't understand this thread then plz ignore this comment. d oh

Re: To create an opening in a work-top ?

Very nice work, and I think your 2D compromise is a good idea, but admit I think the 3D models look a lot nicer and more in line with the quality of your models.

..25 x 10 = 250 possible combinations.... - clearly not sustainable...

For my own use, I add the sink to the worktop when I make the model - but then I only consider a few sinks and only use the 60cm modules and 3cm worktop. Even if you can add texture later, it would make for too many combinations.

I also once tried using a separate level for the worktop (room = worktop where floor thickness = worktop thickness). And while that let me use the staircase SVG cutout for the sink so I could move it on the worktop, the solution was a bit awkward (and could not be integrated in a furniture library).

So I guess the solution proposed by Hansmex is the most appealing.

ok

PS You should also note that there once were slight differences in the models sold in the different countries, but I think kitchen models are now all uniform with the most recent modular system.

Re: To create an opening in a work-top ?

I have many different notices I am thus going to propose kitchen sinks in 2 versions in " 2D and 3D ".
The user will have the choice and will use the version which suits him best.
Thank you for your advice.
