Part of a circle and flat arch?

Hello Friends!

I've looked everywhere - well, not everywhere but in a lot of places - for a part of a circle ("sector" by google translate confused ); a quarter or eight of a circle for the turn of stairs, and a very simple arch like the one among the "3D models" but without the thick (high) non-arching top part. Some help needed. smile

Thank you in advance.

Re: Part of a circle and flat arch?

Not entirely sure what you mean, but there is the occasional demand for simple geometric shapes. Maybe the one posted here (SF 3D 333: Geometry / shapes) is similar to what you had in mind?

Note that you can create lots of such shapes, like an arc, using SH3d, drawing the object with walls or rooms, selecting and using export import.

For instance, in the case of your circle sector / arc:
- Draw the outline of your shape with walls.
- (for an arc, set the third wall arc extent)
- Use room tool and double click inside the walls to make a room.
- (use Modify room to set colours and remove ceiling)
- Select room, export selection to .obj format.
- Import the .obj file you created and rotate/resize.

This way you can tailor-make boxes, beams, slanting walls, roofs, simple staircases etc. But a set of geometric figures might still be useful, I guess.

Re: Part of a circle and flat arch?

Thank you for your reply and help.

"circle_eight" is very close to what I meant, so I am going to use it.

As to creating an arch myself, I am not sure I will be able to follow the steps you wrote, but I might give it a try.

Re: Part of a circle and flat arch?

smile The step-by-step instructions are quite rough - and probably look harder than they are. And you will manage, I am sure. In fact, I think this is an advantage of SH3D. Yes, workarounds mean a little extra "work" but leaves room for a lot of flexibility and fidelity to the basic geometric shapes.

Your question is interesting in the sense that "pre-fabricated" geometry may still be useful. If you need something that could be (generally) useful, you can just post a request. Even better, post your model and describe your problem, and I am sure you will be heard... Good luck.
