Montmarte art - with better frames

Here are a couple of frame models. Decorating a flat with the great masters - like Véronique Puybaret's [imaginary?] flat in Montmartre with mezzanine - just made me think how they practically scream for better frames. These are based, very roughly, on the original used for a local work.

The blog post is a good illustration of great paintings with expired copyright (but take care when downloading, even the photographer may claim credit and copyright to the picture). Some great museums, though, will grant general licenses for use of their pictures. Like the local National Museum with many high quality downloads available under CC BY NC (Free for non commercial use, credit artist/photographer - the copyright on Munch's works just expired and they made the collection availabe). Note that for use with SH3D, scaling to much lower pixel size and jpg quality levels, will be more than sufficient.

Here is another couple of frames to match your collections - a touch more in line with the art.

Re: Montmarte art - with better frames

Thank you very much ! I love Munch's works and this frame and I am sure I will use them an other time.
I took these famous pictures (all expired copyrights) on Wikipedia... I suppose they are free from photographer copyright, no ?
There are quite few flats like this one in Montmartre (however less richly decorated of course !). You have to walk carefully on the area after sunset to discover them.
Véronique Puybaret
Thank you again, Okh.

No one paints a good anxiety driven, Nordic depression like Munch smile But yes, he is quite something.

Yes, well, sort of. Engineers and mathematicians love to simplify. Lawyers and legislators do not. Wikipedia pays a lot of attention to copyright, so mostly you will be fine. However, sometimes there could be for instance a CC BY NC that will require crediting the photographer or other limitations. And some rights may be in dispute. Munch's copyright expired January 2015, but until then his relatives kept pretty tight reins on the use of his art. Stricter than most people's perception of what would be legal, and stricker than many Internet users ever would respect so many "illegal" copies could be found online. Also, things change. When the EU extended the copyright period after the death of the artist, it was jokingly referred to as the greatest resurrection in almost 2000 years. Long dead artists suddenly found themselves having a renewed copyright to works long since expired. But yes, the short answer is Wikipedia/Wikimedia Commons are usually available for use. But do pay attention to possible commercial limitations and the need to credit photographer.

The actual model of Munch's Scream was not included in the upload to SF 364. That is an example of a CC BY NC licence. The Scream is now included in an imaginary art gallery as a sort of concept to how SH3D and FurnitureLibraryEditor can be used to include copyright and other information. The file includes a couple of paintings stolen from me (in fact, they took absolutely everything worth more than € 100, with a truck). I would love to get them back, maybe a SH3D user will know where they are. And for those less honest, nope, nothing left to steal here...sad

Virtual gallery

ok
