Simple flat object

What would be the best way to create e.g. a rug in the middle of a room? Or a patio area outside?

Seems to me I just want to define an area and apply a texture and what springs to mind is to define a room and use that, but is that the best/only solution? Any better ways I'm missing? How else could I define an irregular shaped object like that?

I realise I could export the room and re-import as an object of that shape which might be better as it's not then actually a room, but is this advantageous in any way?

In fact, can a room be defined with curved boundaries? I know I can make a curved wall (already using that) and presumably a double click in the middle would end up with a curved boundary. But how can one create a room from scratch, i.e. with no walls and have curved edges?

Hope some experienced users could jump in here with their ideas/solutions.

Re: Simple flat object

Hi Ken
I think a room would probably suit your purpose best as you can free draw any shape you wish, or draw walls to the required shape, create your room then delete the walls, if you export/import as an object, bear in mind it could end up a fairly large object which may make positioning other object more difficult.

Re: Simple flat object

That's what I've been doing, so good to have the confirmation I'm not missing something.

Thanks.
