Re: Release w/o JRE

Did you see that Sweet Home 3D is also available as a Java Web Start application at http://sweethome3d.sourceforge.net/download.html ?

I could build a Jar file without a bundled JRE, but felt that Java Web Start solution was enough and better at this time (a Jar file may be run with a double click, but you don't get file extension associations and program icon).
Why would you need such a Jar file ?

Re: Release w/o JRE

Part of the installation problem seems to be the whole .jar thing... Most 'users' aren't 'that computer savvy, so why make it complex.

You've made a nice .exe for WINDOWS USERS... why not make a .rpm for Linux?

There's no special reason. It's just I thought the .tgz file is easy to unzip *and* to uninstall (in case of ;-).
Before changing, I would like to be sure that Linux people are more used to install .rpm files...
BTW, would you have a link to a nice and short .rpm builder tutorial ?

Re: Release w/o JRE

I found this in LinuxQuestions.org:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/susen...4066/?highlight=build+rpm

I know this is for SuSE but there should be a buildrpm package for your system. Anyway, it refers to this tutorial from Novell: http://en.opensuse.org/SUSE_Build_Tutorial
