<r>I cannot find something like a "steel texture". I know it is possible on screen to appear like steel, somehow, but maybe not the standard way with a pattern. It's more like the way that light reflects in long stripes.<br/>

Re: Columns, Beams, and Roofs
<t>Sorry, I wasn't clear. I had already found the solution. What I had not seen was the selector at the top of the right pane that switched between levels. I posted it for others reading the thread.<br/>

Re: Columns, Beams, and Roofs
<t>I did read about levels now, but the docs are not that clear, and neither is the program.<br/>
<br/>
It is easy enough to create a new level, though at the moment when one selects "new level", the program should really already show the "modify panel" dialog to select an elevation.<br/>

Re: Default Window and Pane Sizes under MacOS
<t>on my macos 6K DELL monitor, it runs in a window, too, but the window extends too far left and right, covering everything else. if I designed a railroad car, it would be perfect. in fairness, if I had to choose one layout, the current default is as good as any for as many monitors as possible ...

Re: Columns, Beams, and Roofs
<r>well, we have to blame SH3D. it is so wonderfully intuitive that with bare manual browsing and internet browsing, I managed to design a full house. that's a compliment, of course. it is true that I missed levels, thinking it would be as intuitive.<br/>

Default Window and Pane Sizes under MacOS
SH3D always seems to like to spread the full monitor left to right, and make my panes on the left side too small. the last pane size doesn't seem to be kept in the sh3d file.
can the default be changed?

Columns, Beams, and Roofs
<t>I am trying to create a basic barn skeleton. Think carport that is a cube. No walls, just beams and pillars. I found the beam and the column, and they are good starts. The two items that give me trouble are:<br/>

I put a downloadable version of the 256 file on my site, https://www.ivo-welch.info/fun/ , in case anyone wants to download the ambient textures.
