Still no success. Another issue might be that the object is also grey in object mode and in texture mode. Hmm.

I know this is not a Blender forum but I'm facing lots of challenges with applying different textures to objects like for instance a chair that needs a silk texture but a wooden arm rest. (I wish I could do it within sh3d)

reverted back to Mesa 7.10.2 and everything is working. Driver issue.

Well, I know the drivers were updated. Before I remember they were v 7.12 - so I think it's a driver issue. It's just that everything else works and Mesa v 8.0 is the most recent version

SH3D was working fine for 2 weeks but all of a sudden it stopped. Neither Webstart nor the installer work. From the terminal I get these errors

Ok, I stopped the trial. The dependencies on .net 4, visual studio and autodesk material library made it somehow impossible to installe. I tried it in VirtualBox on Windows XP no success either

Thanks, I'll give it a try. During Wine-install it was asking for .net and another library. I'll report back what happens.
