vertical diagonals

Hi all
Is it possible to draw vertical diagonals, ie., frame crossbracing?
If not specifically, then perhaps a sneaky workaround?

The workaround would be to use a box or a cylinder found in the miscellaneous category, resize it to make it look like a beam, export it with the 3D view > Export at OBJ format menu item, then import the export file with the Furniture > Import furniture menu item, and fine tune its orientation at the second step of the furniture import wizard using the Shift key + arrow buttons.
