I have this problem, and I could not fix it
my windows is win 10 ,laptop is HP pro book

I had the same problem. Windows 10. Java 8.

I solve the problem doing this:
-Install Java 7.
-Download Sweet Home 3D in the JAR version.
-Create a .BAT file that calls the JAR, something like this: "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_79\bin\java.exe" -jar sweet-home-3d.jar

Could you try if version 5.2 fixed this issue?

In my case, I tried version 5.2, using the windows installer, but with no success. The only thing that worked was as I described in my previous post.

There must a conflict somewhere with Windows 10. At least, it's good to know that it works with Java 7.

Yes it works but
I can not shut down my laptop , I had to push the button to close
And when you open your laptop again do not enter windows so I did re instal win 10 because I don't know how to open in in save mod to cancel every thing there
