Installation on Mac El Capitan 10.11.6

Post by andrep »

Hello,
By installing SH3D, the installation program ask for installing an old JAVA machine. Seems dangerous regarding security issues.

This problem will be solved asap ?

Thank you for your help

Certainly not ASAP because it’s not dangerous. If it was, do you really think that Apple would keep it available on its servers?
Anyway, if you don’t want to install Apple Java 6, you can install Oracle Java 8 and run Sweet Home 3D with Java Web Start.

And one more thing: the JNLP file doesn't work under the default settings for the most recent versions of macOS:
“SweetHome3D.jnlp” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the App Store and identified developers.

As explained in instructions about Java Web Start :
click on the SweetHome3D.jnlp downloaded file while maintaining the ctrl key pressed, and choose Open in the contextual menu that will appear.
