On Sweet Home 3D version 5.7 I do not find many furniture i had in 5.5.2.
How can I recover them? do I have to import a library? which one?

If you didn’t change computer or reinstall everything on your computer, upgrading to a new version of Sweet Home 3D shouldn’t have changed the content of your catalog.
Anyway, you may also download additional libraries here.

I installed new Ubuntu 18.10 Cosmic in a different partition of my computer so I have not updated but reinstalled. From the pages You suggest I have no idea of the content of each library so i risk to import a lot of things i don't need. Can I instead export the libraries i still have on the old version to import them in the new one?

See this post to see which folder to copy to get the same catalogs.
But keep in mind that a SH3D file contains all the 3D models it needs.

in old projects created with 5.5.2 i see all 3D models
I need more models for the NEW projects created by 5.7
2) in Ubuntu 17.10 where I have 5.5.2 .eteks/sweethome3d seems empty
3) it was not a double post, the other one is just a note about new version.

As nobody can guess what 3D models you need, you'll have to take your time to explore and install the models available at free models page or elsewhere.
Downloading libraries will just speed up the process to get all free models.

In an old project i used a bathroom furniture called 'small lavatory' and i'm unable to find in the libraries you cite.
Furniture Library editor does not work, so the search is not easy.

Why don't you simply copy / paste this object from your old project to the new project?

I found the object and copied into new project but I also discovered that import library does not work in Sweet Home 3D version 5.7 so the problem is not only in library editor.
Will try to prepare doc and open a bug.

Are you sure you tried to import the SH3F file contained in the ZIP files available for download, and not the ZIP files themselves?
