Display dimensions in inches only?

Is there a way to display dimensions as inches only, rather than as feet and inches? Am I missing it? Thanks!

You could insert your dimensions by hand using text.

Please give details because I'm used to metric system, so I can't guess all the special uses of the Imperial system.

I'm no professional or anything, but I've used other programs that let you choose to display one or the other. In some instances, it seems useful and easier to deal with measurements solely in inches -- say, placing 30", 24" etc. cabinets in a kitchen plan. Seeing a wall as 107" instead of 8'11" can make it a little easier to conceptualize and do quick sums. Just my opinion, I guess.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but my search on the same question led me to this thread. As for justification, all the kitchen designers I worked with use inch only in drawings.

Oh, I would insert dimension text myself if I knew how to hide the current dimension text.

Hello,

1 - In File --> Preferences you can choose whether you want metric or inches.
2 - Logically, dimensions follow the measure system you have chosen.
3 - Click a dimension to select it, then delete it.
4 - When you edit a room, next to the room name you can uncheck Display area.
5 - Clicking the A+ button allows you to add your own text to your designs.
6 - Some people read manuals before asking basic questions...

Hans, I think you misunderstood mudworm.
He wants to display the text of his choice on a dimension, but this is not possible at this time.

And if ever an "only inch" option was added to the program, what about inch decimals? Should they be displayed as 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2... or with three digits?

An option to consider that may apply for your present model(s) or
future ones, is that you can double click on any dimension and change/edit the text/numbers to read as you'd like (i.e. Notes, Text,Dimensions in any format etc).
This can be useful if you prefer to model in feet and inches, just
inches or any metric standard, but wish to display an alternative
dimension style or notes .. plus you can have either numbers, text or both.

Thank you for your support and replies. I stumbled upon this thread while looking how to do the same thing - make my dimensions to display inches with fractions only vs feet inches fractions. and decided to add my 2 cents. to the conversation.
I understand it might sound silly by me trying to describe it. But I am assuming you (Puybaret) have never seeing US measuring tape. Rulers in US, have marks for inches, feet and fraction of inch between inch marks. - pretty much like standard meter tapes with its millimeters. The smallest that I saw on regular tape (not digital device with LCD display etc.) is 1/32, which is less then 1 mm (0.8 ruffly).
Lets say my wall is measuring 12 feet and change. At the 12 foot mark it says 12' but at the 12' 8 1/4" it says 152 1/4 and that is what I'm writing in my sketch. Now I'm trying to build the wall by typing in dimensions I type 152.25 and it does conversion for me nicely. But i have nothing to compare to without recalculating it and writing it down in the case if something got moved by accident

You did broke down metric system to only meters, centimeters and millimeters, why not to do the same with yards feet and inches?
