also, how do i get a plan view (2D view from top) , instead of a icon view of the furniture in the room?

how do I get a plan view (view from top) , instead of a icon view of the furniture in the room.

I really need a 2D view of the furniture in the room plan, not a 3D icon view. Also i still want to make sure the 2D view the furniture does not have black border around it.

Is that possible?

You can view furniture from top by selecting Top view for Furniture icons in plan option in preferences panel. This option can be set programmatically with the method setFurnitureViewedFromTop in UserPreferences class, and its default value is set in DefaultUserPreferences.properties file.
