Increase daylight illumination in render plus daylight angles

Hi. I would like to make the daylight power higher in the renders. Is there a way of doing this?

Also, When the latitude is set in the compass properties, does this set the sun angle to the correct values? I have done many renders and the angles are absolutely affected for the time of year.

I'm hoping they are correct as I am adjusting the eaves to allow for winter heating and summer shade.

Apologies in advance if this has been answered before. I did a search and found a renderer comparison which appeared to have some values for sun power, but it wasn't overly specific as to where these were found or what effect these have.
