Missing Functions: Bulk Setting Changes

i can find no way to do bulk/global setting changes

eg

1. how do i change/set ALL my wall heights to the same value (w/o changing individually of course)?

2. how do i change/set ALL my Bookcases (for example) to the same height or width (w/o changing individually of course)?

What about selecting all, then choosing the Modify menu item of your choice?

the idea of "Selecting All" (and even to do that, you have to select first - the option is not active unless you do that) is not exactly intuitive!

i see that that seems to give me Modify Walls and Modify Rooms.
