Furniture preview?

I was about to add a feature request to the tracker, but then I decided to ask first, just in case I'm missing something.

Is there currently some way to preview a furniture item in 3D (being able to rotate and zoom it) instead the static 2D view which appears when you put the mouse pointer over the item?

Of course I mean preview it without the need to add it to the project so you can see it on the main 3D view.

If it can be done, how? If not, I find it would be useful since many times you cannot know if a model is the right one just by it's 2D picture.

Previewing the 3D model is not possible with the current version.
Please fill a feature request, and feel free to propose a solution. I'm not so sure that there could be some nice solution, because loading the 3D model might be a lengthy operation and I don't like too much the idea of displaying a dialog box just for that.
