Issues opening SweetHome3d v4.4

Hi all

I just got a new computer and I tried to install SweetHome3d v4.4. It installed fine but when I try open the application all I get is the splash screen then nothing

I am running Windows 7
Java v7 update 60 (latest)
Latest video drivers

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times with no luck. I have also tried running the Java Web Start version, I get the java permission screen (which I accept) but it doesnt go past the splash screen either

I have also tried running the web version and it wont run either

I am guessing it has something to do with permissions on my new computer but have no idea where to look to check

Any help would be greatly appreciated

That sounds like a video driver issue (even if you report you updated it).
Did you try all the solutions proposed in the FAQ?

Yeah i have gone through the FAQ's

I wasnt sure if it was a java version issue or something to do with the new version of sweethome3d

Ill try and re-update the video drivers, etc to see if it is that once again

Would you recommend that I remove the version of java installed and then just re-run the installer for sweethome3d and let it install java?

Don't remove anything. I don't believe it could change something.
But testing again the alternate JNLP files proposed in the FAQ, I just discovered they need to be updated to work correctly. Please try again the DirectX version for example.

I have used SH3D for a long time. I now have a pc running win8 64 bit and v4.4 does not and will not run at all. It keeps telling me to update direct x and open gl drivers but nothing works. I am sticking with v4.2 as I can't get it going

Just as a follow-up. This direct x version appears to work in windows 8 but the standard install even v4.5 fails on the same fatal error regarding direct x and open gl drivers. I have never been able to update anything that will allow a standard install since v4.2?

If it worked with version 4.2, it probably means that your 64 bit driver is buggy, because from version 4.3, the installer installs the 64 bit version of the program on 64 bit Windows computers. If you want to run it in 32 bit mode, install Java 32 bit and run Java Web Start version or Jar executable version using javaws.exe or java.exe included in the installed JRE 32 bit.
