dimensions on height or 3d view

I like to know, how to create dimensions on 3d view. so when I create a design, I'd like people to know how high the building I designed base on my drawing.

Logically the answer is placing an object with known dimensions in the plan that will show dimensions in the 3D view, e.g. like this: SF SH3D 3D model 326. Silly, I know, but I use it from time to time. ok

but I don't think that's a proper way to show to the workers & contractors. is there any other way to measure dimensions on 3d?

FYI: And if it is any consolation, there is a feature request on this (484). The issue occasionally comes up in the forum - e.g. 5498: Lateral view of indoor walls and 5416: House designed with Sweet Home 3D.

Has a side view with dimensions been implemented?
It would be very handy to measure from for building.
I do not know the complications of grouping and rotating the plan view 90 degrees in X or Y, and then adding the dimensions.

From version 7.2 we have elevation dimensions which will appear in Side View plugin 1.1.

All dimensions can be displayed in 3D view. Doubleclick on the dimension line opens the "Modify dimension" window. Select whether it is a Plan dimension or an Elevation dimension and whether the dimension line is visible or not in the 3D view.To have a printable document you must use Side View and save in *.png format. Selecting the view you want depends on the camera angle in the virtual visit (0, 90, 180, 270 degrees).
