Modify Room Function Not Working?

Just installed v. 4.6 and all seems to be working well except that, and I am following the instructions in the provided help area, once I select a room (it's a single, 4-walled room) the Modify Room function in the Plan/Modify Rooms drop-down remains grayed out and unusable.

I'm sure it's something simple but I cannot find the answer.

Any clues appreciated. (My end goal is to get that window that allows me to create floors/textures and ceilings as well)

If you draw four walls, the space inside may look like a room, but for the program it is NOT a room.
To create a room, use the Create Room button, right next to the Create Wall button.

Do you mean you created a room with the Room creation tool, set the Select mode back and when you double click on the room nothing happens?
