Recessed lighting

I am looking for some recessed lighting I can install in the ceiling.

Something like http://www.lowes.com/images/LCI/Plannin ... _image.jpg

I have found a few models that look like recessed lighting but they can't be used as a light source and I am hoping to light my model with these.

The lighting options I have found so far all seem too harsh and create burned out spots in my rendered images.

1 - Light cannot be imported or exported. So, choose any model you want, and add the light yourself: place a small lightbulb under your recessed light.
2 - To avoid harsh light and shadows, turn the light down, so that the light is just visible.
3 - To illuminate your room, add one or more lightbulbs in the (vertical) middle of the room. Make them 100x100x100 cms with a low light strength. These will light the room and give very soft shadows.

You have to fiddle a bit to get it right, but this is the only way to get a good result.

If you need many of those lights, you may want to consider grouping light source and lamp model. Or, you can add light sources to the SH3D properties related to the model. But to do that, you must use the Furniture Library Editor and edit the properties file in the library. See for instance thread 5206 and SVG mini guide pages 9-10. That approach requires some work, though, and for normal use, hansmex approach does the trick and is easier. ok

Thank you hansmex 3 white bulbs stacked at 750mm, 1500mm, and 2200mm all at 15% seems to work well for lighting a small room
