I am working on a design for a small greenhouse... want to know how to go below ground?

Add a level and change its elevation to a negative value. Then in Virtual visit mode, you can below the ground and all objects you'll add to this underground level (a closed set of walls, rooms, furniture) will create a hole in the ground.
