How do we create custom table having 3 layered top. as attached in the image.
When I downloaded a few models from http://www.sweethome3d.com/freeModels.jsp I was not able to edit individual pieces in those models.
My requirement is after saving the model in obj or sh3d I should be able to edit it when I open it in a different environment.
The table in the image can be easily made by combining 7 boxes.
- 4 narrow, high boxes for the legs
- 3 thin boxes for the table top and the two surfaces below it.
Give components different colours according to your needs.
Then export and import the model as furniture.
By using Modify furniture --> Materials --> Modify you can assign different colours or textures to the items you gave different colours during creation.
Be careful to use the correct box model.
One box model has 6 sides that can be individually altered. If you make your table with this box, you end up with many, MANY individual parts when you change colours/textures.
There is a simpler box model where you change all sides in one go.
