Creating a Wall's Butt End texure?

How does one create a texture for the flat end side of a wall, usually called by some as the Butt End of a wall?

For the same token, how does one add a texture to the top of a wall?

For the first, I created but need to fix a log wall texture buy 'photohopping' some log images I found online. But there is no end/face to the wall when using this texture.

For the second, I'm using a wall at 3ft/1m high as a fence, and there is a texture on the sides of the wall but not the top of the wall.
