Moving objects between levels

Is it possible to move an object, such as a wall, from one level to another? I'm trying to make things work between levels and elevations and I think I made a mistake when I placed several walls on a new level.

Select the object (wall or furniture)
CTRL-X
Switch to new layer
CTRL-V

Thank you. I thought maybe each element had a property that defined the level it was assigned to. But your approach is more simple.
