Insert Pictures (flat) into 2d view

I have searched all over for this and can't figure it out.

I just want to import a .png file of a map to put on my plan coversheet. I don't want to use the background image because I need it for something else and I can't figure this out. I thought maybe I could use the furniture editor to do it but the .png file won't show up.

You could apply you image as a texture on a thin box.
