Some examples using the indirect light
My settings:
antiAliasing.min=0, antiAliasing.max=0, globalIllumination=path, diffusedBounces=2
causticsPhotons=0, shininessShader=glossy, normalLens.focusDistance=250, normalLens.radius=1
filter=mitchell, samplerAlgorithm=bucket

Photo made in 1536x864 pixels then resized in 512x288.

Re: Some examples using the indirect light
Thanks for posting these images smile
It would be very nice if you indicate how much time it took to render these images with your settings, and even better, with default Sweet Home 3D settings. It could help to evaluate if it might worth it to make some improvements in Sweet Home 3D.

Re: Some examples using the indirect light
Ideally we would need:

A plug-in that:
a - allows to play with the render settings AND
b - renders a file and reports the duration of the render
Both features are available now, but in separate plug-ins.

Standard files that could be used for these experiments. These files should be designed to include "problem areas" such as white specks, transparency, shininess, etc.

I would be happy to run a large number of tests.

In the previous post, I added in blue my settings and the rendering times. I use a computer with only 2 cores.

Common default settings for quality 4 :
causticsPhotons=0, shininessShader=default, normalLens.focusDistance=250, normalLens.radius=1
filter=blackman-harris, samplerAlgorithm=bucket

Photo made in 512x288 pixels.

SweetHome3DExample4

rendering time : 6min 59.77s (aAmin 1, aAmax 2, gI default, dB 1)
SweetHome3DExample4

rendering time : 2h 53min 44.64s (aAmin 1, aAmax 2, gI path, dB 2)

By reducing antialiasing values, rendering time is shorter.

SweetHome3DExample5

rendering time : 8min 8.78s (aAmin 1, aAmax 2, gI default, dB 1)
SweetHome3DExample5

rendering time : 43min 14.76s (aAmin 0, aAmax 1, gI path, dB 2)

SweetHome3DExample5

rendering time : 7min 14.52s (aAmin 1, aAmax 2, gI default, dB 1)
SweetHome3DExample5

rendering time : 15min 34.32s (aAmin 0, aAmax 1, gI path, dB 2)

I had thought to integrate advanced settings in the default photo panel but it was not possible at the time.
Now there is a new photo plug-in, it might be feasible for a future release. We could add a button to open a dialog box displaying the photo renderer properties related to the quality indicated by the slider.

Re: Some examples using the indirect light
Another example: SweetHome3DExample10-FlatWithMezzanine.

Photo made in 1200x900 pixels then resized to 600x450.

rendering time: 8min 5.35s (aAmin 0, aAmax 0, gI default, dB 1)

rendering time: 51min 36.41s (aAmin 0, aAmax 0, gI path, dB 1)

Re: Some examples using the indirect light
Hi enkonyito thanks for this forum here
I made my experiment here /maybe good for some users/... /photo of cousin's house/

I try to compare IPR algorythm to BUCKET algorythm /INTEL CORE i3-5010 combinet with NVIDIA GEFORCE 930M graphic cards/

settings IPR image
AA min2
AA max4
GI default
sS silk
algorithm IPR
filter blackman harris
pic size 3500x2333px....then resized to 1500x1000px
time rendering..2hours 5minutes

benefits: short rendering time,simple algorithm able to rendered complicated scenes /for me very good for exterior scenes with GI path settings/
disadvantages:"plain final projection",significant shines reduction,very big size of final picture which need to be reduced

settings BUCKET image
AA min2
AA max4
GI default
sS silk
algorithm BUCKET
filter blackman harris
pic size 1100x733px then changed to 1500x1000px
/the same settings as previous. I changed algorithm and pic size only/
time rendering 7hours 50minutes

benefits:plastic and realistic final view /the difference is significant on big screen/,small final picture size, /for me good for interior images/
disadvantages:very long rendering time,sometimes troubles with more complicated scenes

love these experiments smile

Re: Some examples using the indirect light
Excuse me.. I know that my experiment is not about indirect light but I don't want to made new discusssion because of 2 pictures. For me was better to post it here.
