Problem with the import of *.obj file
Hello Forum
Today I run in a issue: I created in SketchUp a *.obj file. On attempt to import to the furniture library I got the pop- up saying something like " this is a unknown file type" so I can't add it. The funny thing is, I have done this way multiple times, without any issue. Who can share experiences and may solution for this? OH! Additional a question: how to import on such kind of file ( made in SketchUp) with the texture file (*.mtl) who belong to it?
Many thanks !

Re: Problem with the import of *.obj file
The MTL file must be in the same folder as the OBJ file or together in a ZIP file if you store the OBJ file, the MTL file and texture images in a zipped file. But this won’t probably resolve your issue, and if you want us to find the origin of the error, you’ll have to share the OBJ and MTL file. Maybe you could try to export your model in a DAE file which is also supported by Sweet Home 3D.

Many thanks for the professional answer. I tryed the way you mentioned here. Unfortunately no different result. I going to solve the local issue with the access of media fire and will share this here. Hopefully some advanced member find the error. Back here soon..

Well, I hope this works, my first attempt to use mediafire. Difficult here. I tried to export to different file type (dae) but still get the answer from sweet home that this type of file is not supported . The days before I was able to import those files on easy way. Thanks for your thoughts.

Thank you Hans for the broken link information and correction, hopefully it works now.
While this file above works in Hans, it still give me on my Laptop the error message with the unknown file warning. May this is some issue for a developer of SH3D? Any how : thank to all to view this issue and my special " Thank you" to Hans for his support. T.

Re: Problem with the import of *.obj file
The OBJ file can't be imported because it's empty (more exactly, it actually contains only comments. At the opposite, I had no problem to import the DAE file.

Re: Problem with the import of *.obj file
Hello all, thank you for all the testing! Today I make another attempt to import this files who are rejected yesterday. By just doing as Hans has done,.using the Zip- file, out of sudde I could import without trouble. Funny for some reasons but a happy ending. I can't analysis the error why files are rejected in first and the accept, but it just means: never give up trying. ;)
Again a thank you for the support and troubleshooting.
