Fast test under Ubuntu 12.10:
- text rotation works well for floor and floor surface, text, object name.
- directory names are remembered correctly.

I couldn't test the rest.

Will there be a update for Ubuntu Software Center or Ubuntu's Update Manager?

I have several people using the program; some have windows, some have MacOS and some have Ubuntu. Unfortunately, the windows and Mac computer have version 3.6. The Ubuntu computers have 3.4. This causes problems.

I tried downloading the Linux installer but it does not really intall. It just seems to unpack into a subdirectory.

This is too vague to guess what is your issue here. Are you a teacher with students? Are you a manager with designers?
Wouldn't the new portable version of Sweet Home 3D more efficient in your case?

The deb distribution would be the one for
Ubuntu. But I did not see that anywhere on the download page. I still do not see it.
