Not only to you. I can start it and I can load a library, but I'm not able to do something else... If I execute any of the other functions nothing will happen.

Since last week an extensive update for OpenGL was released, I can start SH3D again with the standard script (SweetHome3D; SweetHome3D-Java3D-1_5_2 is not longer needed), so Java3D runs on Ubuntu now also in version 1.6.

Congratulations UB!
I'm jealous you can use SH3D out of the box. On my system nothing happens :-(

Hans, try the follwoing command in your terminal:

glxinfo | grep 'version'

Which version of OpenGL does this indicate?

And the answer is....

Code: Select all

server glx version string: 1.4
client glx version string: 1.4
GLX version: 1.4
OpenGL core profile version string: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 390.77
OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 4.60 NVIDIA
OpenGL version string: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 390.77
OpenGL shading language version string: 4.60 NVIDIA
OpenGL ES profile version string: OpenGL ES 3.2 NVIDIA 390.77
OpenGL ES profile shading language version string: OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.20
    GL_EXT_shader_implicit_conversions, GL_EXT_shader_integer_mix,
Problem is: SH3D doesn't do anything at all with either script.

Hans, you still have to start SH3D via the starter we created. But no longer linking to the 1.5.2 script but to the SweetHome3D script.

After allmost 200h of developing parts, 3D-printing them, figure out if they work, redesign and reprint them (during the last 6 days...) I had now some time left to test FLE and as expected it now works like a dream - thanks to OpenGL 4.5 and higher!

Hans, if it still does not work for you, do not bother too much, because the performance of java3d1.6 is much worse than java3d1.5.2...

...wondering why...
