How to create an area not rectangle?

I tried to create an area surrounding a house, area tool only draw rectangle area, mine is irregular, tried to use polylines, this also draws only rectangle (in its property, the angle is grayed out), am I missing something? What I have to do to enable the angle in its property?

Rooms don't have to be rectangle. Just draw any shape, maybe disabling magnetism.

After drawing a polyline, if I left click on the line, the line's property comes up, and the dash angle is grayed out. I'll give it a try disabling magnetism.
